  62.           being updated (See list above).  Note: The TSA_SMS.COM for DOS
  63.           resides in the SYS:PUBLIC subdirectory.

  65.      3.   Copy all update files, for the version of Netware being updated, to
  66.           the SYS:SYSTEM directory.

  73.      At the present time SBackup does NO READ-AFTER-WRITE verification of the
  74.      data that is backed up.  Therefore it is important that you verify your
  75.      backups manually.  One way of accomplishing this is to follow example 1
  76.      in the Commonly Asked Questions section -- "How to Restore a file to a
  77.      new location."  Restoring several files to a new location and doing a DOS
  78.      compare on the restored files with their originals will verify that files
  79.      are being backed up correctly and that they can be restored.  It should
  80.      be kept in mind that this in no way represents a complete verification.
  81.      It is recommended that you do this with every backup set that you make
  82.      and should be made a regular step in your backup procedures.

  85.      Solution Specifics:

  87.      Explanation of TAPEDAI.DSK and DIBIDAI.NLM:
  88.  
  89.      TAPEDAI.DSK
  90.      
  91.           TAPEDAI.DSK is a NetWare 386 device driver written to control
  92.           certain tape devices.  It is used with DIBIDAI.NLM.
  93.  
  94.           DIBIDAI.NLM presents a DIBI interface to SBACKUP.NLM, but translates
  95.           the DIBI requests into NetWare DAI calls.  This eventually results
  96.           in device driver calls getting passed to TAPEDAI.DSK through the
  97.           same IO request mechanism used by NetWare to obtain disk service.
  98.  
  99.           TAPEDAI.DSK must be loaded prior to loading SBACKUP. If it is used
  100.           often, the user may want to load it from within the STARTUP.NCF
  101.           file.  With Netware v4.0x and v3.12 if TAPEDAI.DSK is loaded
  102.           anywhere other than the STARTUP.NCF file (i.e. Server console prompt
  103.           or the AUTOEXEC.NCF) the command "SCAN FOR NEW DEVICES" will need to
  104.           be performed after TAPEDAI.DSK is loaded and before Sbackup is
  105.           loaded or the tape drive will will not be seen.

  107.      Dependencies:

  109.           TAPEDAI.DSK targets any ASPI compliant disk drivers.  Check with the
  110.           driver manufacturer to confirm ASPI compliancy.

  112.           Consequently,  the ASPI compliant disk driver must be loaded prior
  113.           to loading TAPEDAI.DSK.

  139.      SCSI interface tape drives (the ONLY Exabyte that will work with
  140.      TAPEDAI.DSK is the EXB-8500 -- all others will not be seen).  Novell
  141.      makes no guarantee as to the correct functionality of any drive not
  142.      listed above.  The customer assumes all responsibility for testing their
  143.      tape drive solution with sbackup to insure correct functionality.

  148.      done, sessions that span tapes won't be reliable.  Users should perform a
